About Hnatiuk Gardens

Hnatiuk Gardens is a generational market gardening farm in East St. Paul, Manitoba, just 10km northeast of Winnipeg.

Farming can and needs to be innovative to meet the challenges of the 21st century and looming environmental issues. We believe small community-based farms can play a large role in our broken food system, keeping food sources close by, locally owned, environmentally friendly, chemical-free, diverse, fresh, and affordable.

Currently we grow over 40 varieties of vegetables and fruits for our CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) program, and Farmer’s Market. All of our produce is grown without the use of synthetic chemical herbicides or pesticides.

We have converted one entire acre behind the homestead to a zero-till system (this is the background photo you see here and on our CSA page) to experiment with new growing methods, cover crops, composting, and integrating fruit trees and mushrooms with our vegetable crops. It has now been running for six seasons. This one field provides us with the ability to offer an amazing array of variety and diversity for our CSA and Market programs, as well as environmental and natural benefits.

In these six years we have seen the many wonderful and positive changes it has brought with its maturation, and has inspired us to begin cataloguing the diversity of life we find on the farm. Because of the success of these methods, we have begun to have the confidence to be more bold with. We are excited to bring you more variety of amazing-tasting vegetables and fruits, powered by nature, in the coming years.

Small farms can feed the world.

Welcome to Hnatiuk Gardens.
